Our Last Crop At Keepsakes

Here are a few pictures from our last crop. We had a sweet time. Brandy worked on some Christmas presents.
Angie, Lydia & Leanet worked diligently on their scrapbooks: While Sam brought her own Christmas project to work on, hand-painted ornaments:
We also had great food as usual:
It's so sad not to meet at Keepsakes anymore. We will be meeting in homes for the next couple months, but we're working on a more permanent solution. See you in January! Have a wonderful Christmas season!

Next Crop

We missed those of you that couldn't make our last crop at Keepsakes. If you were unable to make it this past Saturday be sure to stop by the store to say goodbye to Susan. Our group has certainly appreciated all the good times we have shared at Keepsakes.

Our next crop will be January 19th at the home of Leanet Miller. We will start at 6:00. If you plan to attend, please let me know whether you would rather bring a dish for a pot luck or bring a snack. A reminder will be sent out as the date gets closer.

Have a Merry Christmas!
Lydia

Hello All

We have few items of business to discuss. I am sad to announce that Susan will be either selling or closing Keepsakes very soon. Please keep her in your prayers as the details are finalized. Therefore, December 1st will be our last crop at Keepsakes. This is also Famjam so we will not be starting until 7:00 that evening. I hope everyone will join us for a wonderful evening and I'm sure a few trips down memory lane. This will also be a great time to finish some last minute Christmas gifts/projects.

Two of our members have generously offered the use of their homes, taking care of scrap night for January and February. The dates are yet to be determined. Hopefully by March we will have new arrangements settled. Please keep this in your prayers as well.

The facility that we had chosen for the retreat is booked through the end of February. Others must have thought it was as great a find as we did. :) This places us back at square one. We are dissappointed but know that God has an even better place for us to use. Due to time restraints we will not be able to have a retreat in January. Keep checking the blog for updates.

Have a great Thanksgiving, remember to take lots of pictures and I hope to see everyone on December 1st.

Thanks,
Lydia

Sad Goodbye

Kim and Mark Nolt and their boys will be leaving on November 16th heading for their new home in Ohio. There will be a farewell gathering at Chris and Caroline Buck's this Friday at 6:30 (children are invited).

We will miss them greatly. Crop night will not be the same without Kim! While we are sad for ourselves, we are happy for them that they will be closer to family. Keep their travels and move in your prayers.

We will miss you!

A Request

One of our scrappers has asked us to pass along this request:

Josh Adkins, an 8 year old with terminal cancer would like to break the world's record of "most cards received". His address is 124 Edgewood, Stanford, KY 40484.

Thanks,
Lydia

Upcoming Retreat!

We want to give everyone a head’s up on the plans for our 1st scrapping retreat because things will be moving kind of fast. We are looking at The First Baptist Church Folly Beach House Retreat Center. The cost should be around $80 (with light breakfast, lunch and snacks included)

We will know for sure by Nov. 1st but we’re letting you know now because if we go this route, we will need to have half the cost by Nov. 15 and the final half by Dec. 15th so we want you to be able to start planning if you’d like to come. The projected date of our retreat is January 18-20.

We’re excited about this and will blog again with more details when everything is worked out. Don’t wait long to reserve your spot, because space is limited!

Here's an Idea...

We are thinking of occasionally posting tips or ideas. Some will be simple, some maybe a little more advanced. Here is a simple idea for your scrapbook page.

Use a unique pendant that you’ve scavenged at a discount store. Take the pendant or charm off of the necklace. This would be great for a ‘love letter’ page or a ‘first school dance’ page. Use two lengths of leftover ribbon that look good against the pendant. Place one length of ribbon across the top of the page horizontally, and cross that one with the other length vertically on the far left side. Taken from Scrapbook Tips for Beginners

October Scrap Night

We missed those of you that were unable to attend last Saturday. We were happy to welcome back Kelly Stroud, the originator of East Lake Scrap Night. We were also happy to have Wendy Frankle and her daughter Jessica join us.

Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts we will not be able to have scrap night in October. If you simply can't go the month without scrapping, remember that Susan has a crop every Friday night at the store. Go ahead and mark your calendar for November 17th. That will be our next scrap night. I will send out a reminder the week before. Hope to see everyone on November 17th.

Have a great week!

The 411

We had a great time Saturday night. Several of us spent some time making cards for the card ministry with our scraps. That was fun. Anytime you have some leftover scraps, just throw a card together. The Card Ministry is thrilled to recieve them.

Did you know that there is a scrapbooking division at the State Fair? There is! This is the third year it has been available, but you don't have much time left to enter. You can enter online for free until the end of August. You may enter one one-page layout per person but you do not have to have it ready until October. Kids can enter too! You can find all the information you need here.

We are looking into having a Scrappers Getaway Weekend, so keep a lookout for more information on that front.

Our next crop is September 22. See you there!

It's A Record!

We had ten people at our scrap last Saturday! We had lots of fun and good food. (I think dips are turning out to be the specialty! Brandy makes a yummy taco dip, Lydia makes awesome guacamole and Kim makes a delicious salsa! The watermelon was perfect and Hungry Howie's even gave us a free pizza!) Tami brought her baby (3 wks old now) for all to see. She's an angel. We had a great time.

If you have never come to one of our scraps, please join us, the more the merrier! We are scheduled to meet again on August 18th. Hope to see you there!

New Baby!

Tami had her baby! Congratulations! Little Lauren was born at 1:06 am June 29th. (Now, I know I'm going to get this wrong because I was at the pool when she gave me this information and I didn't have a pen, but here's a go. Correct me if I'm wrong Tami!) She was 7 lbs 6oz and 20 inches long. I got to hold her last night. She is so sweet and tiny! Great job, Tami, she's beautiful! Can't wait to see you scrap her!

Card Ministry

Since some of us aren't spontaneously creative, Christi Sheppard has kindly offered to print off card templates for anyone intersted in making cards for the card ministry. If interested, please let me know and I will forward you her info.

Thanks,
Lydia

July Scrap Night

Welcome to the new blog! We hope this will make it a bit easier to access information about scrappin' with East Lake and passing the word around! Right now we have a pretty steady 6-10 scrappers but there is plenty of room to grow! So pass the word along to your friends, send them the link to this blog and come join us next time on Saturday, July 21 from 5:00 pm to midnight (or anything in between), and bring a snack to share!

Also, our church has a card ministry where a greeting card is sent out to those that have lost a loved one, are ill, or are going through a tough time. If anyone is interested in making a card or two for the ministry, please bring them to scrap night and I will forward them on. If you have a passage that really helps you through difficult times you can include it in the card if you would like. It doesn't have to be anything fancy or elaborate just whatever you feel led to create. The handmade cards lend a special element of caring to someone that is hurting.

Thanks and I hope to see everyone on the 21st!

Lydia
