It's That Time Again

Hello,

I hope your week is going well. Our December crop is this Saturday from 5:00-11:00 at the church. This is a great time to work on those last minute gifts for neighbors, teachers or family. Remember that crafters are welcome too or anyone that likes great conversation and food, so invite a friend.

If you plan to attend please respond to this e-mail so that enough tables are set up. I hope to see you there.

Also, Angie Ellis sent this info along - If you purchased a Cricut Expression machine recently, go to cricut.com! You could send in your receipt and $8 for shipping on 2 FREE CARTRIDGES!!!

Have a great week!

December Crop?

We missed those of you that couldn't make it on Saturday and hope you can join us next time. We were happy to welcome Jessica's friend Stephanie and Karen and her daughter Nicole!

As always, we had some great food which was only surpased by the great company. We enjoyed a DJ compliments of the party next door. In fact he was so good we contemplated inviting him back for our next crop. ;)

I know that Christmas is a very busy time for all of us. I personally have some presents I would like to work on and several other people have mentioned they have gift projects as well. If you are interested in coming to a crop on Saturday, December 13th, please let me know.

Lastly, some you may remember Jeanie Luke from when she joined us to crop one time or you may know her from church. She is very ill and I know she and her son Wes would really appreciate our prayers for them right now.

Have a great week and don't forget to respond regarding the 13th.

Thanks,
Lydia

Retreat Pics!

Here are a few pics of the retreat. When we arrived it was cold and rainy so it was very cozy our first night with a fire in the fireplace! Many people brought snacks to share and the coffee was brewing. It took us NO TIME at all to get all our stuff out and start scrapping! We were blessed that Lydia felt well enough to come as planned. Everybody chipped in to help out with setting up, etc.
After dinner everybody started breaking out the pajamas. Some people stayed up until the wee hours. I think the record was 5:00am!

We even had a row of ditital scrappers.

Once the rain stopped, the rest of the weekend was beautiful! Here are some fall pics.

We had a lot of fun and can't wait 'til next year!

November Crop

Well the scrapbook retreat was a blast. We enjoyed spending time with old friends and making new ones. We had 11 out of 17 people report numbers and a total of 1,630 photos scrapped!!!! One person cropped over 500 pictures! Other than some really spicy lasagna, I think a great time was had by all. We will definitely plan another next year so stay tuned.

Our November crop is planned for Saturday, November 8th from 5:00 - 11:00. Due to a scheduling conflict, the youth room will be in use that night so we will meet in the foyer. Please enter through the glass doors on the sanctuary end of the church. Please let me know if you plan to attend so that the correct number of tables are set up. I hope to see you on the 8th.

On another note, I would like to say thank you for all the prayers. I am feeling much better and hopefully will be as good as new soon.:)

Thanks,
Lydia

  • Desk lamp (the room is pretty well lit by skylights, but if it is overcast you may want extra light)

No October Crop

If you were unable to come on Saturday, please know that you were missed. We had a great time and a great turn out. Please continue to invite friends and family. We love meeting new people! :) A special welcome to Shawna, Robin and Wendy. We really enjoyed meeting them.

I personally would like to thank everyone that stayed to help clean up. As my grandmother use to say, "Many hands make light work." The help was very much appreciated.

Just a reminder that we will not meet in October due to the retreat. Our next crop will be November 8th. I hope to see you then!

Have great week.

Retreat Update!

Greetings My Fellow Retreaters!

We’re only a month a way and I hope you are as excited as I am. We drove to Camp Fellowship yesterday to check things out and here is the skinny. It took around an hour and fifteen minutes to get there. It is right outside of Clinton, SC and the directions are very easy. The building we will be in has the rooms located on each corner and a large common area where the tables will be set up. The lighting is adequate but a little dim. You may want to bring a desk lamp for your table. There are plenty of outlets but we will need a couple of extension cords.
There is also a screened in porch and deck in the back.

You will be able to roll out of bed and take your PJ clad self straight to your table. The rooms have two twin beds and a bathroom. They provide a pillow, sheets, and towels. As stated before if you are picky about your sheets or towels you may want to bring your own. The ones provided are a little on the thin side. It has a small kitchen area with a coffee maker, full size refrigerator, toaster oven and microwave. The dining hall is just a short walk away. And if you need to take a break and stretch your legs, there is a lake and a walking trail.
Check in time is 2:00 on Friday the 24th and check out time is 12:00 noon on Sunday the 26th.

Below is a list of items you may want to bring. Also, this is in the middle of no where. We passed no scrapbook stores and I didn’t see a Wal-Mart. I have been told the closest AC Moore/Michael’s/Hobby Lobby is a 50 minute drive. So stock up before leaving home.

Breakfast food – lunch and dinner will be provided. Breakfast is not.
Snack items and drinks (They do not allow alcoholic beverages on the premises)
Cup with a lid
Desk lamp
Seat cushion
Extra bed pillow/towel
Extra adhesive and paper
Flashlight
Umbrella
Favorite cd
Socks or slippers

If you have any new items that you bought and then decided you didn’t need, and would like to donate for a prize that would be great. We will have a prize area set up.

All balances are due this month. If you want to give them to me next Saturday at the crop that will be fine or you can mail them to me.. Let me know if you need the address. I will be sending out more info closer to the date. If you have questions or think of something that I left off, please let me know.

Thanks,
Lydia

We're Growing

We missed those of you that weren't able to come on Saturday and hope to see you next month. We had another great turnout with 16 people. It was great to see some friends we hadn't seen in a while. We also enjoyed meeting some new friends as well, Holly and her mom Erle, Pam's daughters and niece, Lisa's daughter and Vivian's daughter Krystal who was visiting for the weekend.

A special thanks to those that made cards for the card ministry. They are always appreciated.

Our September crop is scheduled for the 20th. We will not have an October crop due to the retreat but will resume in November on the 8th. I will send out a reminder closer to the dates. As always you can check here for updates.

Lastly, a great big thank you to all those men that helped move the tables after their cookout on Saturday in preparation for our crop. It was appreciated more than words can say. If your husband was one of them, please extend our thanks.

See you September if not before.

It's A Record!

We set a record with 15 in attendance this past Saturday night! A special welcome to Rhonda, Joy, Pam, Nikki and Nikki's daughter and her friend. We enjoyed having each of them join us and hope they will come back again next month. Looking over our pages we can truly see how much God has blessed us. Christi Sheppard created the following page:

Wendy Frankle even brought her laptop and worked on some digital pages:

As always we had some great share time, lots of laughs, and created some awesome pages and cards. We even got to meet some terrific skateboarders. :) The food was great as always, especially Brenda's homemade, melt in your mouth pistachio cake. Can you say, YUM!

Our next crop is set for August 16th. I hope everyone will be able to make it even if you just stop by to chat. We miss you when you aren't there. :)

Have a great week!

Hey Ladies!

Do you want MORE opportunities to scrap? Inspired by our little group, my friend Deborah from Lexington Prebyterian Church decided to start her own scrappin' ministry for her church, and boy did she! They meet Thursday mornings once a month at The Watershed and recently added all day Saturday crops once a month. These are FREE! On April 19th they are having a big deal crop with a special guest from Fiskars who will teach a class and give away prizes. (this crop will be at Lexington Presbyterian Church) Did I mention FREE? You can find out more here at their website, Fellowship of Scrappers. If you are interested in attending the April 19th crop you need to email them at FOScrapbookers@gmail.com to save your spot. If there are several of you let them know and she can arrange for you all to sit at the same table. Unfortunately, I cannot go. I will be in Boston that weekend, but if I were here, I would SO BE THERE! I recommend going if you can. Deborah is very sweet and you'll have a great time.

Have a Happy Easter!

Cute Idea

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I know this isn't strictly scrapping, but Brandy sent me this link and I thought it was cute and decided to pass it on! They look to be very inexpensive to make and Brandy suggested it would be a great gift idea for next Christmas.

Aren't they cute? These were made by Creative Kismet and you can click on the link to see her website with a complete tutorial on how to make them as well as link to her Flickr site to see step by step photos. Enjoy!
